Well, things are getting accomplished today. Brian got here just as advertised, and has pulled down the pool screen from the garage and started to assemble it, moved some old stuff around, hung up the mirror in the downstairs powder room, hung a trim ring, put up some curio shelves, cleaned up the patio, etc., etc. In a short while, we'll be moving the Giant Bedroom Furniture out of the dining room and into the extra bedroom.
Chuck (through internet trickery and intuition) got my fax machine working again. THANK GOD. That has been stressful. A single button, errantly pressed, caused this two week headache.
The pool is gorgeous, the back yard needs a complete going over, and the actual condition of this house became painfully obvious to me yesterday. Wood rot, painting, electrical, cleaning, appliance repair, plus 'greening' the house - insulation, water heater, windows, etc.
The pool needs repair to the heater, the spa aereator, the plaster, the pool light ..
Plus, painting, new counters, more painting, then .. there's the painting.
(sigh) All that said, I just love this house. I do.
I was realizing that I've nearly used half of my ninety days...

and open letter to the senators of Texas
I will appreciate Senator Hutichison's (possible) letter acknowledging my communication but telling me that this horrific bill will save health insurance, and save millions of lives. Her letter will assure me that this is a good bill.
Senator Cornyn, however, won't acknoweldge even that I wrote. In his whole term of office, he has never once acknowledged any of my constituent communications. His staff, at least, has been respectful on the telephone. Senator Hutichison's staff are openly derisive over the telephone unless you're calling in from the Southern Baptist Convention, or "White People in Partnership for Christ and Corporations."
I think that you two should start being honest with the American people, those citizens of the State of Texas who believe that you are their elected representatives to the United States Senate. I think that you two should each acknowledge that you serve only the interests of those corporations and persons who can pay you enough.
You could start by proposing to do away with these pesky and ridiculous general elections, and just have a fund raising campaign. He or she who raises the most money from interest groups wins the next term of office.
That would bring integrity to this government.

Thursday - new beginnings and stuff like that there
The Polaris parts are out back so I should jet back out there, hook up Mr. Polaris and heave him into the pool to do his work. The pool people did NOT show up yesterday as they had promised, so some more phone calling will have to follow today. They've just said that they're coming today at 3:00.
I'm wondering whether my fax machine's problem has to do with needing a new drum. I just wish that I knew that it would solve the problem BEFORE spending the $110 on a new drum.
If it's not the drum, then I'll have a drum for a machine I can't quite use and still need a new machine.
Chase's website today seems to be totally bogged down. Which is annoying. I'm addicted to real-time information.

Does God speak to you, too?
"Mr. President, this job can't be fun for you any more. There's no more money to spend - you used up all of that. You can't start another war because you used up the army. And now, darn the luck, the rest of your term has become the Bush family nightmare - helping poor people.
Listen to your Mom. The cupboard's bare, the credit cards are maxed out. No one's speaking to you. Mission accomplished.
"Now it's time to do what you've always done best - lose interest and walk away. Like you did with your military service and the oil company and the baseball team. It's time. Time to move on and try the next fantasy job.
How about cowboy or space man? Now I know what you're saying - there's so many other things that you as President could involve yourself in. Please don't. I know, I know. There's a lot left to do. There's a war with Venezuela. Eliminating the sales tax on yachts. Turning the space program over to the church. And Social Security to Fannie Mae. Giving embryos the vote.
"But, Sir, none of that is going to happen now. Why? Because you govern like Billy Joel drives. You've performed so poorly I'm surprised that you haven't given yourself a medal. You're a catastrophe that walks like a man. Herbert Hoover was a shitty president, but even he never conceded an entire city to rising water and snakes.
"On your watch, we've lost almost all of our allies, the surplus, four airliners, two trade centers, a piece of the Pentagon, and the City of New Orleans. Maybe you're just not lucky. I'm not saying you don't love this country. I'm just wondering how much worse it could be if you were on the other side.
"So, yes, God does speak to you. What he is saying is, 'Take a hint.'

Tuesday that follows Monday
Oof, what a day I have lined up for tomorrow. Meeting with Kevin H for the first time in .. six years? Five? Delivering a loan app to CP after that, then working with a client on his business valuation. THEN, dinner with Rosita, a board meeting, and back here. Before the lunch meeting, I have to get a full day's work done, best as I can tell.
Had a brief excitement today, thinking that I had at least one apartment complex that I could finance; turns out the guy wants to build townhouses - which is SO not easy to do. There are some shopping centers also - hopefully, these will come together.
Since I've decided that I want the Lucerne, but I don't want to borrow money for it - more cash needs to come in, and within the next couple of weeks. LOTS more money. Or whatever. But, new Lucerne, paid for, mine, plus debts retired. Oh, and a new wardrobe. And etc.
Babs cooked up the notion to have a Cinco de Mayo party on Friday evening. Fun! We're going to have some amusement, for sure!
Okay, it's only 10:30 and I'm whipped. I think it's time for some snoozing.

Monday, Monday ver. 776.01
Another day, another Monday. Mitch made progress today with the lenders (as in, it looks like I can clearly stay here beyond my June 30 current deadline) and there is an increased prospect that I could buy the house eventually.
We worked on the reunion again today. I think that's getting close to finished. I pinged the airline today about group travel rates. I have to print and sign the contracts this week. And pay the deposits. Yurg. This is motivating me to get my travel agency license set up, though. Later this week.
Now, it's time to work again on work work. Tomorrow, I need to be up early to log onto about sixty different websites and submit, pay, sign up, blah, blah. Have to run through a valuation of a client's company and meet with him tomorrow.
And, then it's a meeting with Tom to talk about websites and such. Another 14 hour day tomorrow.
Holy schmoly. This is my life these days.

Sunday night thoughts
An afternoon of spending some money on stuff I really wanted; a DVD rack, a curio case for my 20th Century Limited china, cleaning up around here, putting together the rack and putting the DVDs in it, then Chuck, Ben and Robert to watch the Sopranos, and here I am. We watched Bill Maher rip apart a bunch of people, and I've been reading about all kinds of fun new scandals. I've read Condi's latest statements about Iran, and it's clear to me that they're using the SAME arguments, the SAME horsehit excuses and the same nonsense about other countries being involved in our belligerance as they did with Iraq.
Lovely.
Heard from the Child today; his favorite fratmate is headed to Iraq. I asked him what he'd think about the US nuking Iran, and he only began to comment about that they're a muslim nation, so they deserve it.
WHAT IS HAPPENING TO US?
I thought Tom was coming over tonight. Haven't heard from him, though. I need to meet up with him Tuesday, I guess.
I have a huge workload tomorrow. Yurg. I still don't have the print server working on this computer, so I'll have to plug another printer to it.
At least the house is clean. Having BCR over on Sunday nights does accomplish that.
Fun conversation in church today ..
