Trevor got the XM fixed today in Ruby - no line noise. He got that finished, and then I dashed down to Clear Lake to meet with a marketing guru who is interested in working with us.
Had an OUTSTANDING MEETING with the guy in Clear Lake. Headed back this way at 6:15. Talked to Mikey, who was bringing by my old Sprint phone, and we agreed to meet at the Casita de Divo for Gracious Living at 7:00 - enough time for me to return, walk the mutts and be ready for him.
I pulled around in front of the leasing office - there sat the Parking Space of Great Joy - empty! I pulled in, backed into said PSoGJ and started to turn the car off. I had been listening to the XM on the way home .. which was making me very happy. I looked down at the display, and it was just changing to the song about to load - "At Midnight." T-Connection, 1978, reached #56 on the pop charts that year.
They started playing the opening riff .. it went on and on and on .. I didn't want to get out of the car. They play the song every few days, but always the three minute version. The introduction was nearly as long as the entire single! I just sat there, with the car off, listening to the XM, and CRANKED it. I still have a headache.
It was twelve minutes long. It was awesome. It was like being 21 again, and having a car with a great (at the time) stereo, except that the separation and the different instruments were throbbing through me. It was better than being 21 in 1979.
Now, I so want the front speakers wired properly. Oh, my GOD. I went through the packet of instructions and stuff for the stereo equipment tonight to figure out how to program the text display on the head unit, and revisited how much I paid for all this stuff back in 1999. And, baby, it sounds like it.
Except for that whole front speaker thing - I know I can get another 30% of sound improvement out of it.
Then, OnStar!!!!!!!!!
