What a difference a piece of paper makes

So, I've been living in my house nearly a full year now. Since moving (back) in, my bedroom window has been rattling like crazy because of the traffic passing by on Briar Forest, which never used to be as bad as it is now.

The window is, of course, 37 year old, and was cheap in 1970. Over time, its mechanism has failed, and it doesn't fit nor lock in its frame very well.

Anyway, the other morning, I was kept in a semi-REM state most of the night and awakened at 5:30 a.m. by trucks rumbling by which caused the window to rattle violently. I arose in a crappy mood (which has been happening a lot lately,) and was suddenly struck with an inspiration to fold a piece of copy paper into an origami wedge to go between the window frame and the window itself.

Jammed into place, my creation muted the window's shaking, but didn't eliminate it. So, I then folded a matchbook cover and jammed it in between the origami wedge and the window frame.

Voila! Peace!

I've actually been sleeping much better; I can live with the rumble of traffic, but the death throes of the old window were preventing me from sleeping.
